What We Are All About

We believe children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. We firmly believe that children learn by doing, getting messy, investigating their questions, and problem solving with their friends. They learn by playing games, using their imaginations, expressing their emotions, creating, and exploring the world around them. Our program is based on current knowledge of child development and early childhood education.

Curriculum

Learning Tree Preschool implements a theme-based curriculum. It is designed to facilitate learning through hands-on activities both teacher-led and student-led. As teachers, we set up intentional play activities and explorations that meet the needs of individual students. Learning centers are set up in the classroom i.e. writing table, artwork materials, table activities (manipulatives, puzzles, matching, sorting, play-dough), math and literacy, block and transportation, library area and language, science table, sensory table, easel, dramatic play area. Age appropriate music, stories, games, and finger-plays are part of the daily activities. We question and extend their thinking and play to help them learn and grow. We strive to provide high quality education and care for every student who comes into our classroom.

A Little About Myself

I'm Lisa Lundervold, owner and teacher here at Learning Tree Preschool. I have been married to my loving husband for over 30 years. I have 4 wonderful sons and 4 grandchildren. I studied Early Childhood Education in Washington State where I grew up. I have taught toddlers and preschoolers for over 20 years. I took a break from teaching to raise my own children during their school years. My most recent position was as a lead preschool teacher at a NAEYC Accredited Center. Teaching young children has always been my passion and I am honored to be able to spend a few hours a day with your child. It is my goal to help your child develop the dispositions and skills to become a life long learner, both socially and academically.

The Little Blue House

Learning Tree Preschool is located at 1318 N Luckett Street in Sherman, TX.  The building is a charming 2 bedroom house that has been completely updated and remodeled up to current codes and converted into a State licensed Preschool and Childcare Facility.
